Touring skis
We select our touring skis with skiing in Jackson Hole in mind. In track, out of track, or a ski that can do both.
Non-metal edge skis under 50mm wide are best suited to groomed double track skiing.
These skis have a softer tip that allows the ski to easily stay within a track while corning and are also considerably lighter weight than metal-edge skis.
Edge-less touring skis can be used for off track skiing (breaking trail) but have less float in deep snow and lack stability & control found in wider metal-edge skis.
Metal edge waxless skis (fish scale or skin) with a width of 68mm or less are best for those considering a ski that provides the option of skiing in a groomed double track or breaking their own trail. This category of ski has been our best seller for years.
Wide BC skis (68mm+) have become quite popular especially for steeper terrain, deep snow, and those looking for greater stability. Please note skis wider than 68mm will not fit in a machine groomed double track.

Race and performance skis
Our skate and classic skis, particularly at the high end are not randomly selected.
We work with our various ski vendors to better understand the intended use of each model and how that applies to our intermountain snow conditions.
The ski selection and pairing at the factory level plus the transparency of information provided with each pair skis allows us to offer customers a great selection.
We take the process a step further when we discuss how a given skis characteristics will best match customer’s expectations and goals.
It’s easy to “get in the weeds” talking about race & performance skis but we do our best to stay focused and keep the selection process straight forward to get customers on the best possible skis.

We highly encourage everyone purchasing a Madshus or Fischer skin skis to consider a Rottefella Move binding for the best performance experience. Salomon skin skis are sold with a movable Shift-in binding system.
