To find what category fits you best, see the explanations below then select the option that works best for you.

Touring Category

If you are a recreational skier generally going out to cross country ski for a family outing and want a ski that fits in or out of the track; or someone who wants to exit their back door and go out to explore off the beaten paths check out our Touring Category. Cross Country Skiing is a great way to enjoy the outdoors during a long cold winter, and we at Skinny Skis have put together packages from the variety of gear we offer to make the decision making process easier on you!  We have divided up our Touring Category into  Waxable cross country skis and Waxless cross country Skis.

If you are looking for the ease in grip and glide and the stability and comfort of a boot to allow you to efficiently turn the skis, check out the Waxless Ski Packages we offer.  These packages are matched with lightweight poles and convenient step-in bindings to make the entire cross country experience an overall pleasant one!

If you are looking for a more traditional touring package to be used in a variety of conditions, check out our Waxable Ski Packages.

Waxable Skis: These Nordic touring skis are traditional length skis which fit longer than mid-length cross country skis. Generally, the benefit is better glide and solid stability that is gained from the length, not the width of the ski.

Waxless Skis: These touring skis offer both convenience and versatility for cross country skiers of all abilities in a variety of snow conditions. “Waxless” means that the middle of the ski has a textured pattern so your skis will grip when you push off (kick) and provides traction so your Nordic skis do not slide backwards. Contrary to belief, waxless cross country skis do need to be waxed, the waxless pattern needs to be treated to prevent icing in certain snow conditions. Be sure to check out the "Waxless Ski Care" section under Ski Wax for product selection.

Sport / Racing Classic and Skate Skiing Category

Skinny Skis has divided up the Skate and Classic Skiing categories into three different levels of Fitness, Performance and World Cup Race.
Whether you are interested in discovering the thrill of skate skiing for the first time, are an experienced cross country skier with a regular 5 day a week work out program, or are a world cup level athlete training and racing to win, Skinny Skis has something for everyone!

Fitness Packages for the beginner just getting started
Performance Packages for the intermediate skier who casually races and/or skis 5 times a week
World Cup Level packages for the expert racer.

Cross Country Downhill (XCD) Category

The Cross Country Downhill Line is a blending of two ends of the Nordic spectrum: the incredible ability of Nordic skis to cover snowy terrain with speed and efficiency, simplicity of a no-wax kick pattern, and the superior downhill abilities of cross country skis with pronounced sidecut.

Nordic backcountry skiing means many things to many people, from lightweight cruising in the woods to full-on mountain skiing in all conditions. Whatever version of backcountry skiing you prefer, Skinny Skis brings you Nordic downhill skis from Madshus and Rossignol with the key qualities we thought essential for this type of XCD ski – light weight, good grip and glide, versatility, and especially, turning performance.
